Kern River Golf Course is another public golf course situated alongside the kern river in Kern River County Park. This kern river is located on the northern side of Bakersfield California. This golf course is also owned and run by County of Kern Parks and Recreation Division and come under Kern River County Park.
This golf course was opened up in 1953 and was designed by William F. Bell over an area of 6,458 yards. It is built on the hilly terrains near the foot of Greenhorn Mountains. This full 18 hole golf course has course rating of 70.7 and slope rating of 120. It has great experience in organizing local tournaments throughout the year.
The junior golf team of Highland High School is a regular team to play golf in this particular golf course in spring season.
Kern River Golf Course is also known for one of the large picnic areas in Kern River County Park that is available on reservations.
This picnic area is kept isolated by restricting direct access. It has got about 118 tables for picnicking , 6 grills, 5 deep pit barbeques, tables for preparing food, a bandstand and one booth each for ticketing and drinks and plenty of restrooms for refreshment. They also provide playing equipments for outdoor games and softball backstop. All these is inside the golf course. |
