This historic Beale Park of Bakersfield was also the first park the city had, and its history goes as far back as 1908 when it was constructed on 5 acres of land donated by Truxton Beale.
The park has the following facilities:
> Two large reservable picnic areas seating 80 people each; uncovered and equipped with barbeque grills and lights
> Many other covered and uncovered individual picnic spots seating 10-16 people each with barbeque
> Spray park for residents to cool off in summers
> One lit full basketball court
> Three lit tennis courts
> Four lit horseshoe pits

large open field suitable for most lawn sports
> Restrooms
> Sandslot style Playground area for kids
> An open outdoor amphitheater that includes seating (on terraced grass); the stage is in the Greek style
> Great place to bird watch especially rose - ringed parakeets
