Inaugrated on the 18th of April in 2009, Aera Park is a mega baseball park in Southwest Bakersfield, situated at the northeast corner of Stockdale Highway and Jewetta Avenue. The park was named "Aera Park" for honoring Aera Energy for their generous donation of $250,000 to help theSouthwest Baseball organization realize their dream of building a world class baseball field.
Spread over approximately 40 acres, the park is a great place for baseball game sessions. Infact it is maintained jointly by both the City of Bakersfield and Bakersfield Southwest Baseball league. With eleven fields, it plays host to the baseball season leagur games. With perfect softball fields which are appropraitely lighted, the Aera Park also has restrooms and Wi-Fi access.
LLOYD Civil and Sports Engineering Company are the lead consultant performing the design of this park. With a construction cost estimated at $9 million, the park boasts of
a minimum of eight baseball fields with lighting for three fields, security lighting, spectator stands, concession stand, walking paths storage room/announcement booths, and irrigation system necessary to maintain baseball fields.
The Bakersfield city then developed the utility extensions, a restroom, equestrian staging area, trash dumpsters, entry road, vehicular circulation, parking lot, water recharge circulation system, and improved landscaping along Jewetta Avenue.
