Sunny skies and the rich sound of music will welcome you to the quaint city of Bakersfield. Popularly known as the Gateway from the South to the Central Valley, Bakersfield makes for a great tourist spot as well as a place to halt.
This city is the birthplace of "Bakersfield Sound", a genre which originated right here. It is no surprise then that this place is steeped with a rich music history. There is so much to see and do here, so much to explore especially for music buffs that coming here for less than a couple of days will do no justice.
For adventure seekers too, it doesn't get any more exciting than this. A dreamland for whitewater rafting and kayaking, the Kern river offers some terrific routes that are challening and varied. For those who want to go a little easy.. can enjoy activities like fishing, cycling or roller blading along the path that runs along with the Kern.
